What is a Senolytic Activity Test?
Senolytic Activity Test is designed to identify if a tested ingredient or product has senolytic activities or agents such as fisetin, piperlongumine, the curcumin analog, etc. that can selectively induce apoptosis of senescent cells. In other words, the test is to discover senolytic activities or agents that can delay, prevent, alleviate, or reverse age-related diseases in the tested ingredient or product.
Although senescent cells cause damage to cells that they are a part of, it only happens when senescent cell numbers in tissue are too much. Besides, senescent cells should not be completely wiped off as they play a role in wound healing and cellular reprogramming. Therefore, senolytic agents should be developed to only selectively kill senescent cells. Senolytic Activity Test is to determine senolytic activity in a substance and recommend how to use it effectively and in a right way.
